"Made
in Canada: Craft and Design in the Sixties"
February
24, 2005 - January 15, 2006
This
exhibition will examine two concurrent influences on the design
of everyday objects. During the 1950s, the federal government sought
to re-design the country through the adoption of legislation to
create a vital, new nation. Simultaneously, popular culture was
influencing the choices of young, independent and streetwise consumers.
Together, these two factors provided for an exciting creative enviroment
for designers and craftspeople. |
